Lake Webster in Massachusetts was once called Lake
Chargoggaggmanchauggaggoggchaubunagungamaugg.
It is said that the lake was named after a treaty between
two tribes who spoke an Algonquian language in which
the name meant “You fish on your side; I fish on my side;
nobody fishes in the middle.” I don’t know whether this is true.
